- This unit covers extracting and serving espresso coffee beverages using commercial espresso machines and
grinders, plus advising customers on coffee options, selecting and grinding beans, preparing and assessing
drinks, and maintaining/cleaning equipment. Complex repairs are referred to specialists. - Preparation of coffee by other methods is covered in a separate unit (SITHFAB024).
- Applies to any hospitality organisation serving espresso beverages (cafes, restaurants, bars, clubs, events).
- Targets espresso machine operators who work with some independence under limited supervision
- Skills must align with Commonwealth/State/Territory laws, standards, and industry codes of practice.
- No current occupational licensing or certification required for this unit.
